Maggie has been certified by the American Council on Exercise since 1990 and is a 1993 graduate of the University of Arizona. She formed the foundation of her expertise as a personal trainer at Naturally Women Fitness Center, which unfortunately closed in 2005. But the closure of Naturally Women was the impetus for the birth of The Training Zone, and she now enjoys training men and women of any age or ability, although she has a special affinity for developing fitness programs for seniors. Most recently, she has developed a new exercise curriculum focusing on osteoporosis intervention.

Over her years of experience she has worked closely with special needs clients, including those who wish to make the transition from physical therapy to a regular exercise program, as well as clients with Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, cancer, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, strokes, heart disease, and a variety of injuries.

"The most important step of putting a program together is to listen to my clients and find out where they are in terms of fitness goals and where they would like to be." Maggie includes the proper mix of strength, flexibility, cardiovascular, and balance training to help clients meet their specific goals. Her clients enjoy their exercise sessions and describe them as "creative" and "fun." She has completed training in Pilates and exercise intervention for early Parkinson's. She is also a member of the American Senior Fitness Association (ASFA) and the International Dance Exercise Association (IDEA).

Our Story

Sue Young has worked in the fitness industry since 1986. She has been a personal trainer since 1992 and has taught many different types of group fitness classes, including toning, high/low aerobics, and indoor cycling. She works out a variety of clients of various ages and fitness levels and has had some of her clients since 1992.

Sue loves what she does for a living. She loves helping people feel better, not just physically, but mentally as well.  She feels “functional fitness” is her specialty, and by helping people get stronger they can get through their days with more energy and a positive attitude.  She feels the most important thing in life is good health.  Sue believes everyone can improve their fitness level.  Her motto is “One minute of exercise is better than no minutes of exercise.”   By combining good nutrition , daily exercise (even a short walk) drinking lots of water and getting enough sleep, everyone can feel and look their best.

Sue has helped clients with a variety of health issues, including arthritis, cancers, fibromyalgia, lupus, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.  She believes everyone can feel better by physical activity and she has helped her clients believe it, too.  Sue says “You always feel better after working out, whether it’s mentally or physically, you never feel worse.”

Karen Curran has been certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as both personal trainer and group fitness instructor since 1996, but fitness has been a lifelong passion.  She currently teaches “Hard Core Pilates,” a class she specifically developed based on the varied needs of her clients and her many years of experience with Pilates and yoga. She also enjoys teaching kickboxing whenever she has the opportunity and holds a certification in that area as well.

Karen has a passion for empowering men and women with her “Saving Yourself” self-defense classes and workshops. She works with local law enforcement to get current information, tips, statistics, trends, and strategies to help her clients reduce the odds of becoming a crime victim.

Karen’s creativity sets her apart from other instructors. That creativity served her well when she served as group fitness coordinator for a well-known all-women's fitness club. She created and implemented a variety of fitness classes. She was responsible for training and retention of more than 50 group fitness instructors during her tenure, and was highly respected by those she supervised.

In addition to self-defense and Pilates classes, she is also available for one-on-one personal training. She works closely with physicians and physical therapists to help her clients improve their strength and overall quality of life. During her sessions, she provides nutritional guidance, body composition assessments, post-physical therapy care and maintenance, and post-surgery (recovery) care.

Karen’s goal for her personal training clients is to introduce new challenges, using their current triumphs as a springboard to future success.  You will never find Karen slouched on a bench during her sessions or delivering passive instructions. She has a “hands-on” approach that she hopes will be her legacy.

Karen is available to help men and women of all ages and abilities. Whether the goal is to gain strength, lose weight, look better, feel better, or all of the above, Karen looks forward to conquering these challenges with her clients and greets those challenges with the phrase “Bring it on!”

Tracy Argenziano has been certified by the American Council on Exercise since 2000, but has been putting fitness programs together for clients of all ages and fitness levels since 1996.  Throughout her years of experience she has worked closely with special needs clients, including those who wish to make the transition from physical therapy to a regular exercise program, as well as clients with cancer, osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, strokes, and a variety of injuries.

The motivating factor behind Tracy’s success as a fitness instructor lies in her own personal journey:  Tracy knows the struggle to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. While she is an empathetic listener, she has a common-sense approach to solving problems.

In addition to her duties as a personal trainer, Tracy served as department supervisor for one of Tucson’s most successful women’s-only fitness centers.  She was responsible for hiring other caring trainers and ensuring they had the best training possible.

Tracy enjoys her career as a personal trainer and finds it very fulfilling to see her clients meet specific goals that they set.  She sees their success with the same excitement they do.  She looks forward to working with more clients and helping them to meet their goals, too.

Margie Darling has been certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise since 1996.  For eight years she was able to indulge her love of the outdoors with a job as a Hiking Guide for the Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa here in Tucson. She worked as an adjunct faculty member in the Fitness and Conditioning Center at Pima Community College for three years, and spent seven years at a women’s-only fitness center.

Margie has worked with clients ranging in age from 18 to 92, but now specializes in the 55+ age group.  She has had great success with her clients who have osteoporosis and those who are pre-op and post-op for hip and knee replacements.

Margie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and belongs to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Pi Beta Phi sorority.  She is a member of the Junior League of Tucson, the NSCA, the Southern Arizona Running Club and the Southern Arizona Hiking Club.   In January 2007, Margie was featured in Tucson Lifestyle magazine about personal trainers in Tucson.

She continues to build on her reputation as a personal trainer and inspires her clients to success.  She looks forward to helping more and more people, especially those 55 and over, meeting their fitness goals.
